
Adolfo Feijóo becomes the new Deputy Managing Director
Barcelona, May 9th, 2025.- The executive committee of CriteriaCaixa’s Board of Directors has appointed José María Méndez as the company’s new managing director. Méndez, who until now was CriteriaCaixa’s deputy CEO, will be responsible for the operational management of the holding company and will report to the executive committee, chaired by Isidro Fainé, and composed of Vice-Chairman Francisco Reynés, along with José Antonio Asiaín and Marcos Contreras. CriteriaCaixa’s executive committee has also appointed Adolfo Feijóo as deputy managing director.
José María Méndez Álvarez-Cedrón (Lugo, 1966) holds dual degrees in Law and in Political Science and Administration. He is currently on leave from the Senior Corps of State Civil Administrators. He was recently appointed director of CaixaBank, representing ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation. He served as General Director of CECA and CEO of CecaBank until last April. Previously, he held various positions at the Directorate-General for the Treasury and Financial Policy within the Ministry of Economy (1993–2003).
Adolfo Feijóo Rey (Barcelona, 1971) holds degrees in Economics and Business Administration, as well as in Law from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He also earned a master’s degree in Banking and Finance Law from Boston University School of Law, a Program in International Law (PIL) at Harvard University, and a PDG from IESE Business School. He is currently legal counsel and deputy secretary of the Board of Trustees of ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation and of the Board of Directors of CriteriaCaixa. Previously, he worked at Uría Menéndez and Cuatrecasas Legal.
