Barcelona, June 19, 2026.- The agency Fitch Ratings has upgraded CriteriaCaixa’s credit rating. CriteriaCaixa, the holding company that manages the business assets of “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, has seen its long-term issuer rating raised from BBB+ to A- with a Stable Outlook.
Fitch Ratings views positively the recent alignment of CriteriaCaixa’s 2030 Strategic Plan with the Foundation’s Strategic Plan, considering it consistent with its long-term vision and conservative profile. Fitch supports the improvement by the new strategic targets, which include the commitment to keep net debt below 10% of the total gross asset value (GAV), limit the alternative assets portfolio to a maximum of 10% of GAV, and maintain the liquidity portfolio at no less than 10% of GAV.
Fitch also sees materially improved CriteriaCaixa’s financial metrics in 2025 as well as its portfolio’s average credit quality, thanks to the upgrade of the rating of its founding stake investee CaixaBank, among other factors.
In December 2025, Moody’s also upgraded CriteriaCaixa’s credit rating, raising its long-term issuer rating from Baa1 to A3 with a Stable Outlook.
