CriteriaCaixa manages its investment in venture capital through its management company Caixa Capital Risc and through the investment company Criteria Venture Capital, both 100% owned by CriteriaCaixa.
The holding invests in innovative companies in their initial and growth stages, supporting and accompanying them in their development, through three specialised funds: Criteria Venture Tech (technology), Criteria Bio Ventures (biotechnology and life sciences) and Criteria Industrial Ventures (industrial).
Since 2007, CriteriaCaixa’s venture capital business has allocated €232 Mn to investments involving over 50 national and international VC funds . It is also part of numerous successful stories involving startups acquired by top-level companies such as Apple, Meta, AirBnB, Astra Zeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Vifor Pharma, Qiagen, Kerry Foods, Vente-Privee, Pernod Ricard and Repsol.
Currently, the value of its portfolio is distributed among around 40 investments between companies and funds, with a high involvement of the Caixa Capital Risc team in supporting its development.
Criteria Bio Ventures
Criteria Bio Ventures is CriteriaCaixa’s venture capital fund specialising in biotechnology and life sciences. It invests in international companies, with main focus on Spain, Portugal and the rest of Europe, and, opportunistically, in North America.
The fund seeks to work with entrepreneurs who develop disruptive therapeutic approaches focused on solving unmet medical needs that transform patients’ lives.
Since its inception, Criteria Bio Ventures has collaborated with ”la Caixa” Foundation as part of CaixaImpulse Innovation, a support programme for biomedical research projects to help transfer research results to society and to the market.
Criteria Venture Tech
Criteria Venture Tech is a multi-stage venture capital fund, dedicated to investing in companies that are redefining the future with a transformative global vision through technology. It invests in initial and growth stages, and focuses on the B2B SaaS and Deep Tech field, paying particular attention to key sectors such as software infrastructure, data, IoT, insurtech and cybersecurity, where technological innovation generates long-term economic and social value.

Criteria Industrial Ventures is the venture capital fund that specialises in industrial technology, investing in startups that offer innovative and differentiated products or services available to the market.
